can we talk about this lady please? How she was an elderly, single woman who literally left all of her property to her cats and how the artists could have just made her a stereotypical crazy old cat lady but instead they made her absolutely fabulous and graceful and she still twirls in front of her mirror like she’s pretending to be a princess at age 60/70/80-something?

Slut-shaming collapses the complexity of another person onto a single dimension. But even more so, given how slut-shaming is used to control and shame all women regardless of their sexual practices or desires, it conflicts directly with respecting them. Disregard the amount of sexual partners involved in her life, her relationship choices, or how she chooses to enjoy sex.

If you say that you respect women, then you must respect all women.

Being single used to imply nobody wanted you. Almost as if you were incompetent or unworthy of sustaining a relationship. Now it means prioritizing comes first and life doesn’t have to be about revolving your life around another existence. Settling down right away is not as important as taking your time knowing how you want your life to be and who you want to spend it with. Beautiful things take time. Remember, it takes years for an oyster to harvest a single pearl. (via bonvivantx)
